Voting in Bulawayo
How to register, how to check you are on the roll, and when elections happen. The facts only, straight from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.
How to register
Voter registration is continuous, all year round. You can register at:
- ZEC Bulawayo Metropolitan provincial office
Continuous registration during office hours, about 8am to 4:45pm Monday to Friday. Call ZEC to confirm the current address.
- Any ZEC district office
Registration is continuous nationwide, so any district office can register you.
What you need
- You must be a Zimbabwean citizen aged 18 or older, registering where you live.
- A Zimbabwean national ID (metal, plastic, or a waiting pass showing your photo) or a valid Zimbabwean passport.
- Proof of residence, or a free VR.9 affidavit available at the office if you have none.
Check you are registered
- Visit any ZEC district or provincial office with your ID to confirm your entry and correct any error.
- ZEC also runs a voters-roll inspection portal and a phone check during inspection windows. Confirm the current channel on zec.org.zw before relying on it.
When elections happen
Zimbabwe holds harmonised elections (president, parliament and local government together) every five years. The last were on 23 August 2023, so the next are constitutionally due by 2028. By-elections are held in between to fill casual vacancies, and ZEC announces their dates.
